The Federal Workers Forum (FWF) has kicked against the sale of unity schools in Nigeria.
According to the National Coordinator of FWF, Comrade Andrew Emelieze there were serious attempts to sell the unity schools in the past.
‘’The position of the Federal Workers Forum is that education must be prioritized not privatized.
Kings College should not be sold through the backdoor through concession.
Similar attempts have been made in the past to sell unity schools but it has failed, this recent attempt will also fail.
The forum calls for massive resistance and solidarity with Kings College.
Therefore, we call for the continuation of the strike action by Federal workers in the unity schools pending when the government retrace its steps.
The sale of unity schools is mission impossible.
‘’We call on ASUU, SANUU, NASU and other education-based unions including research institutes to join the resistance because if they succeed with unity schools they will go after public schools at all levels.’’
It should be noted that secondary schools owned by the military are not concessioned why then is their interest in the sale of unity schools meant for civilians. This is just an attempt by the old students to buy their teachers and their former schools. Their focus is land grabbing. This is unacceptable.’ Comrade Emelieze concluded.
