The Health Sector

The Federal Government has lost grip of the health sector. Nigerians now seek God’s intervention on issues pertaining to health care delivery.  Most public hospitals are now designated mortuaries, where Nigerians are left to die, rather than recover from ailments. Interestingly, the citizenry now resorts to self-medication and traditional healing therapy as a result of their poor economic status.  Sadly, most health workers lack the requisite skills needed to be proactive in their jobs. All these put together have resulted in high infant and maternal mortality and the prevalence of several diseases.  In some hospitals, patients are required to buy sachets of water for medical tests. U.S. Attorney Secures 87 Month Prison Sentence for Violent Attack on Family Home

DonateALBUQUERQUE – A Fruitland man was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison for firing 18 rounds at a family home occupied by eight people, including five young children.

There is no parole in the federal system.

According to court records, on April 28, 2022, Nathaniel Begay, 31, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, drove to a residence within the exterior boundaries of the Navajo Nation after becoming angry while swimming at Morgan Lake. Armed with two semi-automatic handguns, Begay fired multiple rounds at the home, which contained eight family members including five young children.

After briefly leaving, Begay returned and fired a second volley of shots at family members as they attempted to take cover. No one was injured.

Begay was arrested later that night following a domestic dispute with his wife. A knife and 9mm bullet were found on his person at the time of arrest.

Upon his release from prison, Begay will be subject to three years of supervised release.

U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office, made the announcement today.

The Farmington Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case with assistance from the Navajo Police Department and Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations. Assistant United States Attorney Matthew J. McGinley is prosecuting the case.

  Peaceful change and superior honesty are two among the advantages of democracy. However, the alteration of the truth brings about disillusionment among the people and the continuous worrisome bloodshed of human lives is reflecting negatively on governance. Edwards Deming, made use of the principles of variation as proposed by American Mathematician, Walter Shewart in business processes, in relation to quality and productivity in Japan. In recognition of Deming's efforts, the Japanese business community put in place a prestigious annual prize, the Deming prize, for companies that achieve visible advancement in quality. He successfully established the fact that business processes are exposed to deterioration in quality through variation. This has, to a great extent, assisted Japanese industrialists to improve the quality of their products. The quality circle or Deming circle is now known as Total Quality Management(TQM). Govt should take a second look at the recruitment into security agencies-Comrade Emelieze

  The Federal government has been called upon  to urgently take a second look at the entire  process of recruitment and training of personnel of the various law enforcement and security agencies as a step towards ensuring  that the unbearable level of insecurity across Nigeria is nipped in the bud. This call was made by the National Coordinator for the Federal Workers Forum, Comrade Andrew Emelieze.
